The Origin of a Scientific Calling
Long before becoming a nutrition scientist and exercise physiologist, David Plourdé won 3 Illinois State Powerlifting Championships and set numerous State Records. The pursuit of understanding human performance that began on the lifting platform ultimately became a lifelong scientific career.
However, Dr. Plourdé's path to science was not a straight line. Before receiving his doctoral credentials, he was a social worker with a background in food addiction recovery. His original intention after completing his undergraduate degree was seminary.
That changed after what he describes as a spiritual awakening — a new calling and direction for his life in science. The intersection of his social work background and his emerging scientific discipline would prove foundational: understanding not just the biology of the body, but the psychology of the person inside it.
The Research
With a team of field experts, Dr. Plourdé pursued three primary research objectives for nearly a decade — tracking 308 subjects across three human trials with seven-day-a-week doctor-patient interaction.
Developed a non-invasive technique to monitor Hormone Sensitive Lipase (HSL) — the enzyme mechanism that regulates the weight of each individual fat cell.
Developed an interdisciplinary scientific method to control the HSL enzyme, reducing fat cell weight and body fat levels in a totally predictable fashion.
Established a statistical tool to predict when body fat weight loss would biologically plateau — guided by objective scientific principles, before the plateau occurs.
The Plourdé Method®
The Plourdé Method® is the result of those three decades of formal research and clinical practice. It is the exact road map to successfully navigate a weight loss journey — combining human nutrition science, exercise physiology, metabolic chemistry, body composition science, and the psychology of eating behavior.
Thousands of overweight men and women — from California to New York, from Minnesota to South Florida — have successfully lost clinically significant amounts of body fat through this method.
The objective isn't simply to weigh less. It's to change the trajectory of your health.
